Student Health

Deer Canyon has a Health Attendant on site to provide first aid and respond to emergencies.

  • If a student becomes ill during school hours, the health attendant will notify parents or the emergency contact listed on the enrollment form.

  • Please note: Registered nursing services are not available on a daily basis at the school.


Keeping Everyone Healthy

To help prevent the spread of illness and keep our school community healthy, please follow these PUSD guidelines:

  • Students must be fever, diarrhea, and vomit-free for at least 24 hours without medication before returning to school.

  • Students with symptoms of an upper respiratory infection should stay home if they have:

    • Persistent purulent (discolored) nasal discharge

    • A productive or excessive cough

    • Illness that makes them too uncomfortable to function in class

  • Students may return when:

    • They are symptom-free for 24 hours OR

    • They provide a written medical release from a health care provider.


Health Requirements for Enrollment

State law requires the following documentation for all new students entering a California public school.

  • Current Immunizations
