DC Mileage Club

Deer Canyon proudly operates a Mileage Club for all 1st -5th graders as part of our physical education program.

Students in grades 2nd-5th are required to complete a minimum of 2 laps each day at the start of recess. All 1st grade students must complete a minimum of 1 lap. Weather is closely monitored for student well-being. Students can walk, run or jog during recess and/or at lunch to complete their levels and earn incentives. Each level completed earns a prize for the student.

Please speak with your student’s teacher or Mrs. Worthington with concerns or feedback regarding your student’s participation.

Track Length (estimated)

1 lap = 1/4 miles | 2 laps = 1/2 mile | 3 laps = 3/4 mile | 4 laps = 1 mile

Scannable Running Cards

To count laps, students have a lanyard with a QR code that is scanned by staff and volunteers. You can see the laps your student has earned via Echoes, by visiting the front office, or by attending a First Friday assembly.

Thank you to Deer Canyon's Foundation for sponsoring the Mileage Club technology and cards! And, thank you to our sponsors for helping recognize students for their miles earned:

  • Sisters Judy Bauer and Mimi Sanders
  • Islands Restaurants Mira Mesa
  • Baskin Robbins 4S Ranch

We look forward to the miles our students will complete this year!
